Silk Roads – – – UNESCO World Heritage site

In 2014, UNESCO designated the Silk Road in China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgystan as being a World Heritage Site.  The web site is full of resources including reports maps and great photos.

  1. Great post, and it reminded me of the 2002 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC, which that year took a single theme, the Silk Road. Replicas of important destinations along the Silk Road were constructed along the National Mall, from Nara, Japan in the east near the Capitol Building, to Venice in the west, near the Washington Monument. Craftspeople and artists from the countries presently along the Silk Road were in residence, demonstrating their skills. That year was an especially great visit to the festival for my family and myself. http://www.festival.si.edu/2002/the-silk-road/the-silk-road-on-the-mall/smithsonian
