History of Skyjacking

NPR has an interesting story that highlights how much security measures for air travel have changed in the past 50 years. The author of “The Skies Belong to Us: Love and Terror in the Golden Age of Hijacking” is interviewed in this NPR Morning Edition segment from Friday, April 1, 2016. In the book, Koerner describes how “from 1961 to 1972, nearly 160 planes were hijacked in the U.S. Those early hijackings all had one thing in common: Cuba.”
