According to a recent report by the American Public Transit Association there were a record 10.8 Billion trips taken aboard transit during 2014. Certainly gas prices have played a role in this record number but, if history is any indication, once Americans try transit they find they enjoy letting someone else drive them to their destination. This is the second year transit trips have exceeded the 10 Billion figure, but this year’s trip numbers are a record with transit ridership reaching its highest level since 1956 and ridership figures began to be recorded.
