Quick Book Review – Railtown: The Fight for the Los Angeles Metro Rail and the Future of the City by Ethan N. Elkind

This groundbreaking book presents how Los Angeles, who had previously gone from the largest interurban streetcar networks in the world to total extinction, rebuilt its rail based transit system. The book presents the history of the building of Los Angeles’s Subway and Light Rail Network.  By using a mix of game changing interviews with the main players, archival research as well historical newspapers, Elkind makes this book THE reference for the modern history of rail in Los Angeles and a must-read.
